Design is not just about choosing a style—it’s an expression of character. How can a home truly possess its own personality?
Not through flashy ornamentation or clichéd labels, but by finding a voice that is both gentle and strong within its spaces.
In this villa at Baishiling, Dongmen First Mountain in Sanya, the designer uses the idea of “female philosophy” as a guiding thread, crafting a new residential experience—calm, composed, confident, yet daring.
Running through the entire home is a sculptural sofa. Soft in structure yet precise in form, it wraps emotions in comfort while bringing order to the space.
It anchors not only the living room and reception areas but also the overall atmosphere of the home.
Living RoomA sofa is the buffer zone between the self and the space.
The living room, as the home’s visual centerpiece, is also the emotional starting point. Here, gentle yet restrained tones and understated, warm textures create an inviting atmosphere.
At the center, the sofa becomes the bridge between structure and feeling. Upholstered in off-white coarse cotton-linen fabric, the sofa has a clear, tactile weave—soft but never slouchy—offering both visual warmth and dependable support.
Its broad backrests and measured curves provide just the right balance of comfort and structure. Without demanding attention, it harmonizes the wood, stone, and metal elements around it.
More than just a place to sit, the sofa absorbs and carries the household’s emotional tone. From art pieces to carpets, from carved wooden coffee tables to metallic lamps, it subtly weaves these elements into a unified rhythm, keeping the living room relaxed, open, and full of life.
Dining Room In flow, the sofa shapes the home’s continuity.
In this open-plan layout, no rigid boundary separates living and dining areas; instead, furniture defines the zones. The sofa’s placement gently guides the eye toward the dining space, curving slightly to balance the kitchen island while preserving the natural flow of movement.
Color harmony plays a key role—its low-saturation palette connects seamlessly with the dining chairs. The dining area features a wood-and-metal table, precise and composed, creating a dialogue of “strength and softness” with the sofa’s fabric. In the master and guest bedrooms, the designer avoids sharp separations, instead using materials and forms to create a naturally flowing rhythm. Even in these private spaces, a low sofa-bench sits by the window, perfect for morning meditation or late-night reading. The master bedroom’s palette of warm browns and greys is echoed in the sofa cushions, their woven textures resonating with the wall coverings under natural light.
Every furniture choice serves the slower, more unhurried pace of life—tailored to the lifestyle of an artist. In the guest room reserved for parents, Song-style aesthetics add a layer of Oriental refinement. The sofa, though understated, uses a solid wood frame and low-saturation upholstery to embody steadiness and warmth—like a calm temperament honed over the years, simple yet full of depth.
